separate dab aerial needed ?

I have searched this but cant find a clear answer

does an aerial adapter splitter to the original roof aerial pick up dab ok or do i need to fit a separate dab aerial 

if so does it need to be a powered splitter or a basic one ?

I have a separate aerial for DAB. Standard ones don't work as far as I know, so that shouldn't work. Just like you have to have a different TV aerial for Digital TV from the previous analogue ones (FM is analogue) - powered or not depends on the head unit requirements or how close to a DAB transmitter you tend to be. Mine is not powered and only picks up local DAB.

I half thought as much, as you say it probably all depends on how good the dab signal is in my area but I have no idea. 

To save the hassle I will just go for another aerial.

There seems to be many types of Dab aerials available, anyone a recommendation for a specific window mounted one ?

I got one with a Kenwood dab set and it's a stick on windscreen bar type affair but it's not superb if you get me. National stations drop out a lot. I'd love to recommend one but have no suggestions to offer. I'd try Amazon as you can check the reviews.
