Berlingo undertray
#1
Hello, I am planning to fit a undertray to our 2016 Berlingo van, I have seen them for sale but they are for the 16v and we have the 8v engine, so I was wondering if the 16v one would fit as I would imagine the subframe is the same. The reason for fitting it is to keep our cat from sleeping in the engine bay.
Thanks,
Ronnie.

The main difference between 8valve engines and 16 is in the cylindwerhead

You may need the fitting kit too. Not included with the version I bought so check with the seller. Lots of bits in it.

I have an undertray installed, but that doesn't stop the cats from sleeping on the engine, they still find a way to get into the engine bay.

So far as I know, there will be no difference to the undertray for the 16v vs the 8v engine. The undertray is actually used on several different models other than the Berlingo & Partner. For my B9 8v Partner, I bought a tray that was actually a part of a bigger tray for a completely different car, maybe a Pug 308. Sorry, can't find the details now as it was a few years ago but the tray part number according to catcar is probably 7013CT

As mentioned above, you'll either need the fitting kit which is some cage nuts and m6 screws / bolts or some cable ties to hold it on.

Do new vehicles come with an undertray as standard?  When I bought my K9 I considered buying the 'Worker' model as it had extra underbody protection in the form of a tough metal plate beneath the engine (I sometimes drive up rough tracks), but due to a huge discount on the 'Enterprise' model I bought that instead.  When I took delivery it looked like the engine underside of the 'Enterprise' was well protected by some kind of metal plate anyway, so I was quite pleased.  But when I looked again last year, I couldn't see anything, and I don't know if one of the dealers who's since serviced the vehicle has taken the tray off, or maybe my imagination or memory is playing tricks?

There are some similar stories of undertrays disappearing in the M59 section IIRC

My B9 was bought new "without engine under protection" and "without engine bay sound proofing" yet they specced cruise control and ESP.

No heated mirrors or Aircon either.

I can't imagine why. We live in a country where it's cold damp and freezing a lot of the year.

Ah, thanks for the pointer.  I think next time I go to the dealer who supplied the vehicle, I'll ask them to have a quick look and see if it's "as supplied".
