The engine fusebox continued
#1
As dedicated followers will know I have been attempting to fit a 40 amp Maxi fuse to the "hidden" fuse line. This is to feed juice to the white lead in the cargo area used for trailer power supply via a towbar.

I lifted the fuse board........a bit...........and can see the #2 slot has no fuse in it.  I can see it but cannot access it thanks to the gubbins in front of it which is protected by a steel cover apparently rivetted in place but are bolts with no head! Rolleyes Rolleyes

I can either remove the gubbins cover to gain access or remove all the things plugged into the board and lift it right out.

The question is which.

To repeat here for your own thread John, the thing bolted into the steel frame is your engine ECU which is mounted using shear bolts to stop people taking them out. It needs slots cut with a dremel in the bolt heads and a big flat blade driver used to unscrew them. Then the ECU can be lifted out. Do not unplug it however with the battery connected, or it will become "locked" and you will no longer be able to start the car, even with it refitted.

This is a Security feature, which will require Citroen to get you out of, or a trained amatuer with Diagbox. Can't remember your build year. If 2016> then it's pretty much Citroen only on that one. You would also need your 4 character security "pin" code from when the car was new, or buy a copy from Citroen for £45. Then you still have to pay to unlock the ECU.

You would be better to disconnect the battery and all of the plugs. Probably much easier.

The thing I referred to which is often rivetted is the actual top fuse tray, though often not done at the factory any more.

I will take the Dremel approach because I hate stuff that is not accessible with regular equipment.
I had such a problem with my commonly called Boris bike that I refurbished - everything was assembled to stop theft and the Dremel worked very hard while I turned it into a beach cruiser.

But I digress.  I just need to see enough of the #2 fuse holder to get a fuse into it.

Many thanks.  It had solid rubber tyres when I got it and a lot of stuff that had to go.

Could not access the bolts with the Dremel, it is just too big.  What do they do at Citroen dealers I wonder.

I have to admit I have given up with this idea perhaps until I get to fitting a towbar.

They probably use eazy-outs after drilling a hole in the top. I expect they are to keep MEDDLERS out haha ;0)

I am proud to admit I am a fettler mostly because stuff made or built for general use is nothing like suitable for my needs.
Eazy-out is a method I thought of using but not till the weather improves. Wink

I saw a video of someone I know putting the slots in the bolt heads with a dremel, using a Flexi extension of course, and it wasn't that hard...if you want I can dig it out.
