Help :( Locking Problem
#1
New here and desperate for any help.

Didn't use the van for a 2-3 weeks over christmas and the battery completely died at one point. Ever since recharging it the central locking went a bit tempremental. Would take a few presses, or sometimes didnt work and had to use the manual lock, unhook the battery, put it back on and it worked for a while.

Heres the current situation. My plan was yesterday to get in and reset the BSI but Its completely stopped working now, and I can't turn any of the manual locks. Never had to use them before so not sure if they are fu**ed from previous owners (Forestry commission) but the passenger one did work, as I said above to get in and lift the bonnet.

I've tried lubricating the locks, and have got the key all the way in but they just wont turn, any of them its almost like theres a mechanism to stop you opening them if the central lockings gone? Sounds stupid I know...

So I'm currently stuck as I can't open any of the locks, all my work gear is inside, and I reallllly dont want to have to call an Auto locksmith as its going to cost a fortune.

My plan was yesterday to get in and reset the BSI from a tutorial I found and hope that will fix the central locking. But obviously lost all access now. Also I have 2 keys both worked before this happened so highly unlikely its the battery

Any help is appreciated, Thanks

put a lot of wd40 inside the keyhole, then put in the key and gently move left right to lubricate, i had the same problem with key not turning on the reservoir cap at the fuel station..

would try changing battery in remote. When it starts getting low gets a bit cranky. There is no mechanism to stop them opening. Had a similar problem with mine . Just down to locks never being used probably for years. Fortunately found mine didn’t work before central locking packed in!

Thanks for replies, Been trying WD40 for the last 2 days, hasnt worked, either the key isnt going all the way in, which is looks like it is, or all 3 are completely seized (even though passenger worked the other day) Ill go and get a new battery now at my whits end!

the problem is mechanical in the locks, just insert the wd40 small hose inside the keyhole, put some wd inside then try the key as i sayd before

Once you get in and are able to, put the key in the ignition, turn ignition on (don't start the engine) and press & hold the lock button for 10 secs, this should re-synch the remote to the van. Turn off and try the key buttons.

Worth remembering the deadlocks could be on if you pressed the lock button twice in a row, I actually lock mine like that and even if the windows was down, you cannot open the door even from the inside.

Try inserting the key almost all the way and use the wavy key blade cutouts to shoot the wd40 to the innards of the barrel.

Thanks again for the replies.

Ive been shooting it in with the red straw it comes with all the way down, even tried some silicon stuff, sat there for half hour wiggling and wiggling up and down etc didnt budge one bit. I've been out 5/6 times over the last 48 hours wiggling and spraying with zero progress turning wise.

Do the deadlocks stop the keys working? I always lock it twice so its definitely engaged.

Found someone that will come and open it for £50 thinking of just doing that then I can reset it myself as above hopefully

I don't have deadlock enabled, but I think that even with deadlock on you can unlock the doors using/turning the key (not by buttons)

can you check the key on the fuel cap to see if that will open?

Yeah both good points DJ, the key should open the doors even with deadlocks on and the cap would prove the barrels match the key. Well the cap at least. But it must have been refuelling ok up till now.
