Hi
Dipping in and out of threads, searches etc there seems to be a wide variety of info regarding fitting a new radio to a Berlingo. I'm just seeking the up to date idiot's guide!
I have a 2009 XTR with standard radio/CD and no glove-box aux socket. I'm using a bluetooth/FM transmitter, as I have done for years, but this is worse than anything before - just playing something on the phone increases the crackle/noise - pausing often results in the terrible crackle stopping.
Anyway, what I want is a radio/CD with both bluetooth and 3.5mm aux connection to play music, podcasts etc. from my phone/audio player.
I don't want anything with a touch/video screen, rear-camera etc. just a radio the same size as is now, and I want to keep the stalk controls.
Looking back it seems there may be a number of pitfalls, errors etc. that can be made and I want to do my best not to fall foul of them.
thanks....

get a rd45 radio unit from ebay, it's about 100eur, and a type C dash display about 60eur, you will have mp3, bt, aux, handsfree calling, keep stalk controls etc.

But unless the seller can code the rd45 radio with the new owners vin, it will beep constantly.
Or you can do it yourself with Diagbox but that's not easy either without knowing what to do.
If you buy a non standard aftermarket one then you need a Connects2 interface CTSCT003.2 version, for the early B9. This retains steering controls and let's you set the clock when required.

you can give the vin to the seller or ask the seller to send you a blank unit without vin, it will not beep

Regarding the RD45 USB dash display combination - It looks like there are different versions of the RD45, they look like what I already have though I can see some have USB/aux. What I don't understand is why I would need a new display?

This seems a simpler solution? I read it as meaning I could buy a radio that is compatible with the Connects 2 interface, fits the space and and includes bluetooth, aux (and maybe USB)? and just replace the radio - would it all be pretty easy for a relatively non-practical person to do?

if you don't have usb mp3 and bt then you have rd4 not rd45, and rd45 needs the type C display so you can select input, bt, see tracks, etc..

That works, if the seller is able to do this. There is no guarantee they can. Most second hand units are sold by breakers who can't mess with them at all. Not sure how it goes in Romania but not every seller on eBay is re-coding their radios in the UK. It would be nice, but I think most are just second hand units mate, pulled straight from a car.
