Amplifier on B9
#1
Hi Mates,
here as per subject.
I had an M59 and i installed an amplifier for the radio (Rd 45). It was a Pioneer, very small but excellent for my ears. It was extremely eady to install it, since the car had a normal iso connection, the amplifier too, so it was just plug&play.
Now with my B9 I'm getting lost, because the car has Quadlock connection and not ISO anymore.
I start to buy some adapters, from iso to quadlock, some of them were designed for Citroën/Peugeot.
I had various scenarios, the best was that the amplifier switched on during in/eject of the cd, the worst was the radio and amplifier both without signal of life.
Some electric workshop told me that it is not possible to install a normal amplifier, since the signal pass through the CAN line. I'm little bit sceptical about this and I'm here to ask for your support.
Ready to hear from you, thanks in advance.

rd45 has quadlock
pass a live wire from battery (fused 40-50A) to the amplifier, split the speaker wiring to get the signal from the rd45 to the amplifier inputs, then plug the speaker wires (that was before in the quadlock) to the amp

I know how to connect an amplifier, I'm just wondering if there is a quicker way to do it with connectors iso/quadlock, and if it's true as per workshops says, that the power signal is passing through the CAN line.

CAN bus is for data and never power. The stereo uses the CONF CAN at 125kbps and is for sending data to the other components. Nothing would or should be powered by the CAN wiring.

Solved, it was needed to connect the CAN BUS wires, from the quadlock of the car to the quadlock of f the radio, bridging them.
