I sometimes find that the drivers side window won't always operate on my Berlingo, it's not the motor as locking/unlocking the car from the outside will fix it.
I swear it knows when the weather is the most horrible not to work. Any suggestions as to why would be most appreciated.

Sounds like you have a wire or wires broken in the loom from the body into the door, Opening and closing the door may be making/breaking the circuit. Was a common fault and happened to me on my 306.
