Apollo - When did you add adsense / google vignette?

I've recently been getting page loading stalls with a blurred page when leaving an open BF page to return to the BF home page. At  first I thought it was my web browser, but now I see it looks to be deliberate (see attached). Somehow reminds me of when Andre added bitcoin mining!


While I understand that advertising helps keep the site running, is this latest addition really needed?

   

It's not the end of the world & i'll get over it, but it is a bit annoying.
