Noise and vibration above 40mph. Stops with braking and right turn.

Hi all.

I have a 2014 XTR which we have owned since it was 6 months old (5k miles). Now it has 92k on the clock. Regularly maintained and well looked after.

It's been trouble free until recently. 

It had is scheduled service and then a week later the FAP liquid depleted so went back in for that and I urged for new timing and auxiliary belt (I am over cautious with timing belts and get them done at the first opportunity).

Since this visit we have had a vibration which you can feel (but it's slight) and an awful vibration/droning noise above 40mph. Weirdly it goes when turning right or braking.

The garage tried to fix it with new discs and pads as they where getting about 20k from needing to be changed...nope. came back after 30 miles.

It makes me wonder why the action of replacing the discs or the car being in the air stopped it for those few miles?

Could it be a dodgy tyre? Wheel bearing? (It sounds right but we have had no signs a bearing was letting go) some other bushing?

Any experience or help would be great at its set us back quite a tidy sum this month and I am loathed to finance a front end replacement at this time, ?

Sounds like top strut bearings, they rumble when on the way out,
Also when vehicles been on the ramp or jacked up they make the same noise for a while after
Turning the wheel side to side may make it happen also
Should disappear unless they need replacing.

If the mechanic moved the steering wheel with engine off then the steering angle sensor gets wrong values. Just drive the car like this for 10-20km or with engine on and car stopped turn left right lock to lock 10 times so the sensor will auto adjust

Its not something like the engine undertray being loose and vibrating in the airstream.

Same thinking here, wheel bearing on the passenger side, hence it goes quiet when you turn right, putting pressure on it.

Check your wheel nuts.
