Suspenion air bags
#1
Hi,
My 2002 Berlingo Camper has just failed its MOT because of faulty suspension air bags. Can anyone advise me about the availability of replacements?
If we can't replace them we'll have to say goodbye to it.
Thanks in advance

Is it a Romahome Quartet?

Can I suggest you contact Elkolon who sell MAD springs, they list airbags on their web site

Thanks Peter.

It’s actually a Duo Outlook.

I am surprised that it has airbags.

They can be replaced with coil spring assisters

I have just replaced the spring assisters on my 2007 R20 as one had broken. Romahome normally fitted MAD coil spring assisters to Outlooks and R20s

Replacement springs are just over £100 per pair and the complete kit is about £200. They are quite straightforward to fit.

Peter,

The airbag failure was an MOT failure, hence my concern that the camper might be unusable without them. Are you saying that coil spring assisters will get over the MOT problem. If so it would be a great relief!

Thanks for your input.

Yes, we dont have airbags nor did our last one, they both had the spring assisters.  If you ring Elkolon and talk to them they undestand Romahomes,  I think technically you could just take the airbags off in the short term, they are not original equipment.  Over the years ours has passed its test on a couple of occassions with either a missing  helper spring or a broken one.
