Should I drain the old fuel
#1
Hi All,

My 2008 Berlingo has been sat since last October I believe, due to a clogged up EGR valve and a couple of other issues which I have really only just started to get round to sorting out.

I made a start this weekend but a thought occured to me, how long could the desial in the tank really last before it should be drained and fresh fuel put in.

I know petrol seperates after a certain length of time but im not sure about desial.

Cheers

J

I wouldn’t be draining it. It should be fine.

If you do decide to drain it, just put into drums and I will dispose of it for you, FOR FREE!

Seriously, it will be fine, I have tractors and the like that stand for years, yet start and run no problem. As for petrol, don't believe all you here about it going off. My mowers, hedge cutters, chain saws etc stand for months at a time, and again start and run just fine.

I'd probably top it up with fresh fuel, maybe even premium if you're feeling rich.
