Ball Joints

Further to my post regarding the strut top bearings i have decided to renew ball joints and lower arms,
Can anybody advise please on the size socket i need for the ball joint seeing as they are screwed into the bottom of the hub,
Still not changed strut top bearings so planning when i get a free weekend to hit it all and hopefully this will resolve the knocking.
Test due in 3months so may as well and planning on keeping the van.
