[Brakes] No brakes
#11
Hmmm no idea!
Maybe try http://www.catcar.info, put your VIN or drill to the correct model and section, mind your OPR number, found on drivers door post.

I once had this, admittedly on a petrol car. Top up the reservoir, start the engine, clouds of acrid white exhaust smoke, few minutes of that it would stop smoking and the reservoir was empty again. The fix was to replace the master cylinder.

Yeah it could be getting sucked into the intake on a petrol, though not on a diesel as it has no connection to the inlet from any vacuum point, due to needing a vacuum pump to generate "false" vacuum.

My favourite method of looking for leaks is chuck a big sheet of cardboard under it and see what it looks like in the morning.

Thank you we tried something similar ?

O well there goes my theory.... so where is our leaking brake fluid gone.....
It's a total mystery....

It could be filling up the servo drum. Have you confirmed you have a servo drum? The reservoir isn't big and usually a servo is large. Could be getting sucked into that.

The vacuum pump must have an exhaust port and is possibly into the crankcase. Therefore it is possible for the fluid to be sucked out of the servo reservoir and deposited into the oil sump.

@newton1959 - It does have a brake booster / servo unit.

Here is the vac circuit in full: (might help)

Thank you for the PDF ?
Here is an update.... over the past few days I have had all the wheels of again and I eventually found a very small brake fluid leak in the rear right caliper (a small seal around the handbrake pivot arm) don't know how long it's been there ?. Bled the brakes, there was a little air in the rear calipers and near side front (left). I now have brakes, I topped up the brakefluid reservoir and took her out for a quick test. The pedal is quite firm and stops ???I will check the reservoir in a couple of days.

I now have a permanent ABS light and brake warning light ?. Unfortunately my scan tool does not read abs faults but I have done a resistance test on all the wheel sensors and they all the same values on all the wheels and all the wheel speed signal generators look to be in good order no brakes or missing bits, all the sensors are clean and free of rust.

Any help or advice where to look next?

Have you disturbed a cable or a sensor? Seems to be an issue on the rear wheels where a cable cracks or wears through and disconnects one of the sensors, there was a thread recently where 3 or 4 people found the same issue. Maybe search abs fault in here.
