My 1.6hdi multispace broke down ages ago.. 70mph, rattling sound... stop. I got it recovered home, guessed some kind of flywheel problem, and have gradually been taking it to bits to diagnose it.
When I dropped the gearbox the clutch and flywheel came with it. Oh dear!
The heads of all 6 flywheel bolts are rattling around inside the clutch and the remaining threaded parts are snapped off flush with the flange on the crank.
Amazingly there doesn't seem to be any collateral damage at all. Nothing I can see anyway. The loose parts stayed inside the clutch and the whole clutch and flywheel were just sitting on the gearbox input splines.
My questions are: what's the drill? Are the bolts supposed to have washers or at least flanges? Because these ones don't. It doesn't look right at all? Obviously it's been assembled incorrectly. Are you supposed to renew the studs every time? Academic in my case as I obviously have to.
Just looking for any knowledge or advice from anyone who has experience of whipping the flywheel off one of these little beauties.
Cheers
William
