Ok, not just any old rustbucket, but a rustbucket nonetheless....

Ah, I've not watched that yet (no TV licence). I thought the Sunbeam underbody was pretty bad, but I guess the TV cameras will seek out the wildest examples.
The worst I've seen on the auction sites I follow is this compost heap posing as a Mini pick-up:

Though that only went for £960.

People are buying old cars because the modern ones don't work.

The thing with a mini, at least in car if not commercial form, is you can buy every single part, including the shell, as a reproduction part. People do, rightly or wrongly, buy an early mini just for the ID then build themselves a "new" early mini.

Useful business to know about if someone's got an old British classic, though the complete bodyshells would set you back a bit. Wonder why the Mk1 Mini bodyshell is so much more expensive than the others (£14k vs. £10.5/11k)?

No idea, maybe they've got 1 set of tooling for early and 2 sets for late, so supply and demand kicks in.
At the end of the day, if you've got the money and you're building the car of your dreams (your dreams, not mine, I don't like minis) for about £30k including an original ID and a nice white on black numberplate, then, well, you could spend that speccing a Berlingo out.

Cooper S Mk1 had to be loaded on a pallet and fetched £20,000, find of the century it was described as.
So where does this bit go then ?

Bit surprising there was enough of it left to say 100% it was a Cooper S!

My colleague had a Talbot Horizon in the early 90s. What a horrible contraption that was. Took me a while to master the shifter. It was all over the place, anything but the correct place.
