Rear window shelf hack

I got my Berlingo 4 months ago, but I find it a bit annoying to open shelf through the rear window as there is no strap anywhere. I tried simple velcro cable tie and it works great!

Anyone else using a hack like this?

I wonder how many people actually leave the shelf in place (I don't) and the majority of Berlingo's I see don't.
