Hi,
I've recently bought a 69 plate berlingo van (driver spec). I would like to reduce the road noise while driving (mainly the load area, bulkhead and doors) while I've got the door cards off I'm looking to put some improved speakers. I've a few questions if that's ok
1- what clips do I need to have on hand if I remove the door cards? I understand its easy to break them!
2- if I disconnect a speaker will I get a bsi fault? How do I prevent this? Disconnect battery before starting work?
3- Any suggestions for replacement speakers? Will the headunit be able to support 2 ohm speakers?
4- I read somewhere that the headunit lowers bass as the volume increases, is this accurate? Can anyone verify this?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Morning, I upgraded the audio on my Berlingo 2019 (new shape).
I put JL Audio C1-650 6.5-inch (165 mm) 2-Way Component Speaker System into front doors (you can hot glue the tweeters into the housing on the back of the grill and crossover can be tucked in and hot glued onto the back of the grill housing as well).
Also got local car audio shop to wire in a Vibe Audio 2 channel compact amplifier to the touch screen head unit and it drives the speakers nicely. Amp is very small and fits in the glovebox. The sound is fantastic.
Regards clips on door cards I used these levers whichI bought on Amazon:
‘Manelord Trim Removal Tool - 5Pcs Trim Removal Tool Set, Auto Body Kit for Car Clips Removal, Dashboard Removal and Car Door Panel Trim Removal’
That made it easier to get the door clips off. I bought a bag of spare door card clips on Amazon specific to Berlingo just in case of breakage!
There was no battery fault when I disconnected factory speakers and I didn’t disconnect battery.
For soundproofing doors I used the following: ‘ Noico 80 mil (2 mm) 10 sqft (0.95 sqm) car Sound deadening mat, Butyl Automotive Sound Deadener, Audio Noise Insulation and dampening’ Again, from Amazon.
I’ve nor experienced the bass reducing re your query.
Get some speaker adapter connecters too so you don’t have to cut original vehicle speaker wiring.
Hope all that helps.

That's great information, thank you for that. They are the same speakers I was thinking about fitting, so that's good feedback.
I'm going to sort out the load area of the van (for my bikes) first, and move to sort the cab when I get a bit of time. So it'll be a case of getting the bits ready to go.
I've already got a pioneer GM-D1004 amp, so think I just need the iso connector to the citroen head unit. It looks like the focal IW-PSA-YISO kit should work, (it says the berlingo mk3 isn't compatible, but the peugeot partner/rifter is) so I'm assuming that's a typo as they are identical. So that's a future project.
Thanks again

Hi
new to forum, looking to do the same. using the van for MTB and have a K9 Driver Pro XL 2022 fully loaded all options inc a 220v in the passenger footwell!!, hoping this may power a ebike charger not sure yet tho, but a bonus if it does.
so need to upgrade the speakers as I'm coming form a discovery 4 Meridian system
on the above upgrade are the tweeter housing not used, i'm confused to which speakers i need.
cheers

The tweeter housing in the door (behind the wing mirror mount) just pulls off by hand, so it's good to have a look at what you are dealing with. All speakers are attached with a plug so worth getting some to attach to the new speakers to avoid cutting into the loom. By all accounts the depth of the door is plenty deep enough for large speakers.
There's plenty of room under / behind the drivers seat for a subwoofer, if that's your thing. I'm tempted but I think I'll see how a new set of speakers goes first.
I've sound deadened the bulkhead which made a difference to the driving noise. Bottom half behind the seats aren't visible, top half in the load area adds a bit of reflected light, mines grey and it's pretty dark in there even with a door open!
I've not tackled the speakers myself yet, I've been busy putting a floor in with rails to attach multiple mountain bikes via fork mounts. I can fit one bike in with wheels on (mines a medium size berlingo), but need to be able to put two in with wheels off.
