Automatic gearbox fluid change
#1
Update below

2011 Berlingo multispace 1.6 Diesel automatic 6 speed box. (98000 miles).

Good afternoon fellow Berlingo owners.

I want to change the automatic transmission fluid in my automatic gearbox as it has never be changed.
I have watched many YouTube videos on the subject but I would be grateful for help / confirmation on.

1. What type / model of 6 speed automatic gearbox does my Berlingo have.
2. What type / make of automatic transmission fluid would be recommended for this type of automatic gearbox.

Thank you in advance for any help / advice or information.

Update

The display on the dashboard had intermittently started showing "Gearbox Fault" and the "Auto" indicator would flash on and off and when this was happening the gearbox would change down through the gearbox but would not change up higher that 3rd gear! Once the car was stopped sometimes it would clear and would operate normally and smoothly up and down the gearbox once again for a few days.

Having checked and cleaned every fuse and electrical connection we still had this intermittent "Gearbox Fault" issue. As our code reader was not able to to display the fault we took the the car to our local Citroen Dealership.

We live in rural France our local Citroen dealership is 20 miles away and unfortunately they don't speak English and my French is not great.

However we managed to put together a page of English to French translation, a few hours later and €160 lighter we were informed that it was the "Contacteur de stop"
Does anyone know what and where this is please.

I already said to you that the gearbox is not a normal automatic, it has no transmission fluid, it's a regular manual gearbox with a robot shifter and a robot clutch. It takes normal Hypoid gear oil, the same spec as the manuals do. I'll get the spec for you in a minute but it's not like conventional autos where they need regular fluid changes.

See attached; straight from Citroen ServiceBox

3. Type of oil
ESSO 75W80 EZL 848. TOTAL 75W80 H 6965.

4. Oil capacity
CAUTION: It is necessary to drain the gearbox and put back the exact quantity of oil, in the event of an external leak or a repair.

TT 6-SPEED PILOTED MANUAL

Gearbox empty: 1,9 litre. After draining: 1,8 litre.

N.B.: The gearbox is lubricated for life; Visually check the sealing at each service visit.

5. Refilling

Remove:
The air filter casing (depending on engine version) The vent plug (1)

CAUTION: Add the exact quantity of oil.

You are most welcome. Unless you are having problems, I wouldn't stress too much over gearbox fluid.
