Does the B9 have side airbags in the B pillar or door frame? I am building a boot jump for an M59 and because the front seats will not go beyond vertical I was thinking of replacing them with a pair from a B9. However in the M59 the airbags are located in the sides of the front seats, so this swap could leave people vulnerable and I'm sure would invalidate insurance.
I would be very grateful if anyone with a B9 could let me know.
The only other alternative solutions would seem to be cutting the existing seat fames to allow more forward movement, or making a much shorter bed circa 170cms.

I'm pretty sure the B9 models [at least the 2008/XTR Multispace model that I own] has the airbag in the side of the seats, I'll check for sure tomorrow AM, unless someone else has answered by then.
I owned a 2007 M59 Multispace Desire previously [it got written off by someone rear ending it] and I thought the seats in that actually went flat forward as well but you actually had to wind them forward with the back adjustment knob [they were not spring loaded like in the B9 model]

The B9 doesn't have airbags in the B pillar. If it does have side air bags, they are built into the front seats and only on models with the single front passenger seat, so likely only on high spec later model Multispace's

In the original Amdro video about the bootjump, they feature an M59 shape vehicle and he doesn't seem to need them to fold flat he just winds them forward?

Thanks! Yes the video does show an M59 in the starting part but they seem to wind the seats a bit beyond vertical. Amdro's own website says that there is a seat modification necessary for the M59 / Mk1 Partner if you are buying their boot jump. I have emailed Amdro to ask what this is.
Looking at a 2016 B9 at work there is an electrical connection below the seat which could be Airbag or could be seat belt pretensioner. I could see no sign or hint of an Airbag in the seat's side. The M59 has a plastic panel and i would have expected something similar or perhaps at least a label tab sewn into the seam. If there is an airbag in the B9 seat I can't see how it gets out through the seat fabric or where it would be. I definitely couldn't see any headroom curtain airbag notices. I am assuming that all multispaces would have had a side airbag of some sorts if they had also been fitte dto the previous generation.

Thank you, that answers a lot of questions. I have just spotted B pillar airbag modules for a B9 on ebay, so I guess the airbags are in the pillars below the seatbelt recoil and not in the seats.
Therefore if I replace my M59 seats with the standard B9 ones I am making the vehicle and driver less safe and probably invalidating my insurance! Well this has saved me from bidding on a set on ebay and driving across half the country to collect them. I have also spotted a B9 seat with airbag panel for sale, so perhaps I should look out for a pair!
I will wait and see what Amdro's modification is because atm I am struggling to get more than 165 bed length and they claim 185 is possible. Perhaps there is a way of extending the seat runners to get the seats closer to the steering wheel. I would not have thought Amdro would be advocating cutting the frame as suggested in other threads here.
What a great forum this continues to be!
