I’ve replaced my rear axle (2003 Multispace) but the rear end still looks too low. Could it be that my dampers are the wrong spec and too short? IM Axle supplied the axle and on my request specced it slightly higher than standard. Yet… it’s definitely still a bit low at the rear.
it is not the rear dampers that determine the ride height, its the springs or in your case the torsion bars.

The ride height was increased but as soon as I fitted the dampers, the ride height was reduced. Which leads me to believe I’ve been sent the incorrect dampers (as they’re likely to be dragging the car down). So with that in mind, do you know the correct specification dampers?

Hi, the docs below are the part numbers and dimensional diagrams for the shocks, (there are two variants) and the last doc is the height setting adjustment using a tool (dummy shock absorber) so hopefully should help in confirmation of shock length vs ride height (which makes sense if the shock is too short)

Thanks for this - handy! What is the difference between the two shock absorbers though? Struggling to work it out. Sorry for being a bit thick - I normally work with hydropneumatic spheres! Springs and shocks are new to me!

I expect the MAD numbers are OPR dates, which would translate to:
MAD (OPR) 09457 = 30 September 2002
MAD (OPR) 11683 = 3 November 2008
MAD (OPR) 12110 = 4 January 2010
So the differences seem to be purely date of manufacture, check your OPR number on the drivers door pillar sticker (ignore the last two letters / digits) against the ones quoted in the diagrams and that should point out which is which. Also the second one (shock 2) is marked as "heavy duty" - but then when did Citroen always make sense...if like me (I suspect you too) you've had an XM, a CX25, several BX19s and a ZX then you know that MAD is in their DNA and not much is actually logical.
