Just renewed our 16 plate Multispace with ours. Self & wife (both retired) plus daughter as drivers, legal cover, protected no claims, hire car, fully comp SD&P all for the sum of £426. We have breakdown & home start included in our Barclays Travel Insurance.
Thank you, I will look into this today.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Every tweak has been done to lower the premiums ( I always spend ages doing that )
This is only for a 'social, domestic and pleasure' only quote - no commuting too.
I'll try an independent broker and see what they come back with.
I forgot the car has a tow bar, and is stated inside the modifications pull down box which I'd missed. I went back and added that (a friend had her whole claim denied for not stating they'd changed steel wheels to some standard alloys...)
Well, the tow bar has added another £60-£65 to my quotes haha.
Looking online, there is no agreement on insurer opinions.
Some say a tow bar can reduce premiums by 20% as the car would be travelling at lower speeds, then other insurers say one adds to risk.

Maybe it is a Devon premium of sorts. My profession did not change or the car or anything else, but when I moved from England to Wales my insurance jumped by £150. It was not a bad area at all, as I compared my postcode to the richest part of the city and there was not a difference, just the city itself.

I honestly don't get it. I've never had inflated quotes like this for any car through 25 years of living at the same address.
Nothing has changed in any of my circumstances since the last insurance policy taken out a month ago. I wonder if cancelling a policy goes on the database and it has an effect. I wouldn't have thought so, but who knows...

I just read somewhere that from this year there is quite an increase in car insurance premiums to account for inflation including garage costs, second hand cars, replacement parts, etc. There could be something like this going on, but not to the extent of your increase.

Ask the insurers if they have you on the MID (Motor Insurers Database) as currently having two cars in your own name, perhaps also ask for any other factors they can see which would affect the quote you get - call an actual insurer not a comparison site and see what they say. You may have to request a copy of your information held by them under the GDPR rules. There could be a huge mistake in the info.
And also here is something to check; your credit score, they could be loading you because of two finance deals in a row dropping your credit score like a stone (for a while) and they will load up your insurance for that too, if you pay by installments.
