Multispace insurance quotes crazy so far! Who do you use please?
#1
Hi

I always apply all the usual safe tips and tweaks to lower insurance quotes, but they are coming in at silly money.

The car is a '2014 Multispace - 1.6 HDi 90bhp Airdream / XTR', which I pick up next week.

I know premiums will be higher due to the short gap from quote to insuring date and I allowed for that, but I purchased a 6 year old top spec low mileage diesel Renault Megane Sports Tourer with leather seats etc a few weeks back, and insured that same day. That insurance had to be cancelled as the car was faulty / returned, yet the Berlingo quotes are coming out £130 more with the same insurer - Hastings Direct)

So, I then went to Quotezone where over 50 insurer quotes came in, and Hastings were still massively the cheapest. I don't get it as I've dropped insurance groups from 18 to 9 too.

Where do you get your Berlingo car insurance please? I'll give any a go  Big Grin

Thanks

Esure. But then I'm over 50. As are most Berlingo owners!

Go to Esure then! £230 fully comp, any other vehicle driving, 15 years NCB. For mine that is.

I just did a Confused. com quote and Esure is down the list at £599.93 with £400 total excess  Sad
11 years protected NCB too.

The best on there out of 59 insurers was the same as the other searches tonight. Depressing. Looks like I'm not going to find any better.

I was naive to think dropping insurer groups would mean a decent quote.

Esure here as well. £370 for a 2006 plate with business use.

It's a bit of a pain because a lot of insurers treat them as a commercial, even though it's a car.

Sorry it renewed for £320 recently and I forgot that but it depends a lot on where you live, the statistics for that area and the demographic.

And mine actually is a van but private use only, SDP and commuting.

Pays to shop around of course but little known insurers can be terrible if you ever need to claim. A friend used someone called insurance4u or something like that and they took 18 months to pay up for a no-fault bump.

Mine's insured for full business use, I live in South greater London and have 0 no claims bonus on it currently, and it costs me £420 fully comprehensive. I'm 45 with a clean licence and no accidents for 13 years. It would be cheaper but I've still got my 13yrs NCB tied up with my current, soon to be retired Transit connect

I'm <50 with a 1.6HDi Peugeot Partner 2007. This year with LV comprehensive SDP & commuting is £217, a significant drop from last year £266, but no changes whatsoever, just the renewal came at that. 9 years NCB as they do not allow more. My Excesses are not massive, do not quite remember, but in the region of ~100-150.

It hugely depends on where you live, but you can tweak a few of the components, for example tweak your job title. It does not massively reduce your premiums, but sometimes it can. I generally follow MSE's guide: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insura...insurance/
smile, you are alive! Peugeot Partner Escapade (same as M59, but with offroady-ish look) 2007, 1.6HDi 92

Tara, have you got a local independent insurance broker near you who may be cheaper than online (also someone you can deal with in person if any problems arise)?

Just renewed our 16 plate Multispace with ours.  Self & wife (both retired) plus daughter as drivers, legal cover, protected no claims, hire car, fully comp SD&P all for the sum of £426.  We have breakdown & home start included in our Barclays Travel Insurance.
B9 (2016) 1.6 BlueHDi 100 Multispace XTR = Mine;   B9 (2013) Enterprise 1.6 HDi Van = Hers.
