change parking/side light bulb
#11
Just done this on my 2003 2.0hdi.

Tricky but only five minutes of a job. On mine I started with the o/s one to get some practice. I took the circular cover off the back of the headlight unit, unclipped the headlight bulb holder, withdrew it and the headlight bulb and pushed them downwards, out of the way. I then cheated and got a small mirror in there and looked for the sidelight bulb holder. It's a small black plastic cylinder directly above the headlight bulb. As they said above it took a slender hand and my two longest fingers to grip the holder on either side and pull it out. Replaced the bulb in the socket, cleaned the bulb and then pushed the holder back into its hole. Replaced the headlight bulb assembly and put the cover back on.

The n/s is similar but trickier. I took the fuse box lid off as advised above to give a few extra millimetres of working space. The round black headlight cover was trickier on the n/s as there was a wiring loom right behind it so some brute force and jiggling was necessary to get it off and back on again later. Replacement of the bulb was just the same as the o/s..go in blind, trap it between the two longest fingers and pull.

Thing I learned today (from my MOT fail list) the 'All position lamps' are your sidelights. Every day's a school day!

Hope this helps in some way.
