Hi. A few weeks back my trip computer started displaying ‘Engine Fault’ I didn’t want to drive it anymore so I called out a mechanic through ‘Click Mechanic’
1) He diagnosed the fault as a blocked DPF. His remedy was to put the car in 4th and drive at 50-55mph for about an hour to ‘blast it through’ as he said the problem was caused by me doing short, infrequent trips. I asked how often I should do this and he said “get a petrol car” Good advice?
2) After he’d finished the warning triangle was still lit on the dash, even though the ‘Engine Fault’ warning had gone. He said the ECU (which was replaced recently by a Citroen Main Dealer) hadn’t been set properly. He told me the car thinks I have a towbar module, but mine is an after-market addition. Should I take it back to be set/reset
3) He said the Stop/Start unit had no charge - he thought it might be faulty, disconnected or disabled in the ECU* Does this seem right - how can I tell which it is?
More info - last year the Stop/Start let me down on a motorway exit. The engine stopped and wouldn’t start again. After a good while I got it going and turned the SS off to get home. A garage ‘fixed’ it with a new battery and some new ‘unit’ When I collected it the SS was off and I left it that way. Recently, I I tried to turn it back on and it wouldn’t engage. I have a feeling that the garage ‘fixed’ the problem by replacing the battery, which was less than a year old and maybe disabling the SS
4) I’m pretty sure that the dash used to show which gear I was in when driving in automatic, but after the mechanic from ‘Click Mechanic’ had been and gone it just shows two dashed - - I now only shows the gear when in manual.
I’m feeling short changed
Can anyone advise on any of these issues?
Thanks
Marco
