Interior Latch release for Tailgate
#1
Hi, this is my first post here having just acquired a 2019 (2018 plate) 7 seater and loving it.

With the 3 Isofix positions taken up with child seats I need to be able to put the occasional adults into the two rear seats. Problem is they cannot get themselves out via the Tailgate.

My question is: has anyone seen a rear lock opener that works from inside the vehicle. I have not found one via google.

There's never been a factory option for that on either the B9, or K9 as far as I'm aware. It's an easy mod to add a simple push button on the inner tailgate plastics though, as the outer release handle actuates a simple "normally open" contact switch. All you have to do is piggy back another push switch off of the contacts and mount it on the inner plastics

Thank you for the quick replies. Looks simple enough. Think I will use WAGO style spring connectors so I can remove the panel completely if needed.

I wouldn't recommend wago connectors as they not designed to work in situations subject to vibration. I'd recommend crimping insulated spade or bullet connectors

On the B9 model this can also be achieved mechanically using just a couple of cable ties to create a "pull Handle" attached directly to the lock
