The barn door internal handle conversion... I've hit a problem
#1
I must be missing something obvious...

But after reading this thread:

https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-23771.html

I went out and got myself the part, fitted it, and was feeling smug......

Then I shut the door, locked it......  and noticed a problem... my central locking had stopped working..

So... out ot all came, put my old 1 back in and everything worked again....

Any suggestions as to what I'm.doing wrong????

I know I've done a lot of overtime this week but I can't be that dopey....  can I?????

Suppose you have to ask is the unit you’ve bought faulty?

That's pretty much where my mind is... but just wanted to confirm I'm not missing anything obvious, or overlooking a simple step....

Did using the key in the barrel open the door from outside with the replacement unit fitted?

Suggestion. It'll be a colossal pita, but I'd try checking the operation of the donor unit by plugging it into the front passenger door loom connector, and see if it functions in its original intended position. If it works there, then it may well be a case of programming through DiagBox to tell the BSI that it's got that mechanism connected to the rear door. Given that PSA have a penchant for this kind of coded electrickery, it would not surprise me if that was indeed the case.

Zion, Your thoughts?

I must admit, I didn't try that...  I cleared my tools away, shut the back doors, went to lock it and thought... oh you ba**ard!!!

Wwhhhooooooaaaa something you should know about me, I don't do electrics... hahaha..

You want a full roll cage fabricating, or an ally fuel cell and pump setup making for your WRC car, I can sort you out... but wires!!! Circuits!!! Nah... that stuffs witchcraft....

Ah ok lol, so yeah it shouldn't need coding but as I replied to blackpartner in a pm, the locks themselves signal the BSI that they are closed, and it locks them when commanded. If one lock fails to go into the locked state and reports it is open, the locks are unlocked immediately.

Sounds like a wiring issue at the new lock or a bad unit was fitted.

Bare with me here.....

I'm assuming in that case there must be some kind of microswitch in the latch part that is triggered when the door shuts???...

Will email the breakers I got it from and get it sent back to them...

I don't think that is the correct unit, this is what I was saying in the thread too. Your new unit doesn't have the flanged cover for the barrel lock. There are ones out there that have the flanged cover, which probably work?

Look in the image I have attached, this better matches the original part you have, but just with a handle and it's grey instead of white.
