Which engines this ?
#1
Its not shown in the Haynes manual. The car was first reg'd August '98.

I think its the WJZ 1905cc DW series diesel.

How much difference does it make for buying spares like fan belts etc ?

Thanks in advance.

That looks like the 1.9D to me. Never owned one myself, but i would have assumed it was fairly simple to find parts for.

Thanks Andre - but it seems according to Haynes, that there are about 3 types of 1905 diesel. I see the XUD and DW types are mentioned but not all are shown.
The XUD is the older model, used for years. The DW is newer and can be had in 1.9 or 2.0 litre form.
Sub-types of the 1.9 DW seem to be "WJZ" - mech fuel inj, and "WJY" with EFI.

Add to that the fact that several gearboxes have been used over time (I seem to have the post '98 MA5 type from the linkage arrangement).

So I'd like a positive ID if poss.

Thx PK thats plenty for now !

I see that the DW8 is 1868cc - not 1905.

I've now found by trail and error, that the aux drive belt should be a 1110 (power steer but not air con), not the 1396 as listed at my suppliers.
