We have suddenly started getting shocks when touching doors etc. Why would this be happening and what can you do about it?

As has been said, put your hand on the door first when getting out.
It has a lot to do with the clothes you wear too, nylon for instance, and as you turn in the seat to get out,you are creating static.
I had one of those earthing strips on my old Scenic,it seemed to work, but not always.

My van has the same problem at present.
It just sits in the drive waiting for the phone to ring.
If it was 'Thomas the Tank Engine' it would have a sad face.

Had couple of good jobs last week, but things not getting better.
Been quiet since New Year.
Suppose same for you?
Had to put off my 60k service till things improve.
Can't leave it too long.
Money is tight.
Never used to be sat at home on a Thursday waiting for work.
Quite depressing, really.
