idle speed

my dw8 engine always idles just over a thousand is this correct and if not how do you adjust it

I would suggest that your idle speed thermostat is kaput. Mine failed and keeps the revs high. As soon as the engine has warmed up the revs should drop back noticeably. Part is £30 ish. I have another post on here about it, i'll find it.
