Parts prices
#1
Anyone got any parts price stories?
Got a good example today...
The front discs are in a pretty bad state (wear & corrosion) so decided to change them, and obviously the pads.
Our local Citroen dealer in Stoke-on-Trent was the first port of call as I needed a chuckle.
They didn't disappoint!
One (!) front disc of unknown make.... £76! Not sure if that was plus or including VAT as I was busy picking myself off the floor.
Next stop Halfrauds. Or it would have been, but too much excitment in one day...
So on to our local large independant motor factors.
They suprised me with a good old name from the past. Mintex.
Like most things today Mintex is now owned by a foreign (German) company (not a bad thing) called TMD Friction Services. But I still recognise the name from my childhood, so a good start.
PAIR of brake discs and a SET of brake pads, from the same company, were £65 inc VAT.
So how do Citroen justify £11 more for just one disc?
Or should I ask you one on Geography, instead?
Capital of Kazakhstan, anyone?Confusedcratch:

Capital is Astana, to save you googling it.

Get onto Euro Car Parts, they have 25% off brakes at the minute, just either order online or reserve for trade counter collection.

Pagid as well, another brand of TMD friction Services.
Saying that never tried GSF who used to sell Textar very cheap and are another brand of TMD.

£225 fitted is still expensive. If you take off the £65 that I have paid for the parts, that's £160 for fitting. My local garage will do it for £70; that's £135 in total. I'm happy with that.
And in answer to Womble...
Not that particular establishment, but the one in Fenton run by our friendly colonial cousins from the Indian subcontinent.
