what does this part do?

hi just new to this forum
a was wondering if any of yous know what this part is?

it is located at the back of the batterie. the clip snaped n it droped down at the back of the wheel so when i turned it shattered it in pieces, went to the local scrap yard n got an other one and connected it, the van is still not starting any one know the solution?

Is it a Diesel engined van ?. It could be the engine running relay ?.

yeah its a diesel 1.9 non turbo, the red and green light are staying on at the keypad immobiliser asweel?

The keypad immobiliser on mine has long since been immobilised, its just decoration now. That is probally your problem,as your relay dosent look tooo bad. Try searching for immobilisers in the search box, there are lots of questions and answers there about them and their problems.
