In User CP at the top of the page Your Profile Edit Options in Messaging and Notifications try changing Default Thread Subscription Mode to Do Not Subscribe. It might be that doing it.
So where does this bit go then ?

To all, what is happening is Spammers are registering and then posting on older threads, and if you had a post on that thread then you are "subscribed" to it, so you will get an email telling you there is a new post on that subscribed thread.

We boot and ban the spammers as soon as we see them posting, and I check several times a day but this can't be helped I'm afraid if they get online between checks.

Best thing is to unsubscribe from the thread or change your subscriptions settings to "do not subscribe" as @ffrenchie says, so you don't get any new emails and we will keep kicking the spammers off.

Unfortunately if you ask a question and are not subscribed to replies, you won't know if anyone does answer your question, so please be aware.

Thanks.

Still getting them, think I switched to not subscribe might have to wait for a while for settings to take affect. What a time waster this idiot is, don’t they realise they are wasting their own time as well

The problem with turning off notifications is that you no longer get genuine ones which might interest you.

There is away of cutting out the unwanted junk but keeping wanted notices. I don't believe it can currently be automated within the forum but us individuals can do it.

Collect a list of unwelcome keywords from these notices, such as fullz, crystal, meth, and so on.

Go to your email app and look for a way to create and edit macros or filters.

Create a macro so that any email with any of these keywords in its subject line and in the message body gets put in your junk folder or your deleted folder.

It is unlikely that a genuine poster will normally use any of these keywords (except me here now).

Exactly right, mail clients such as Gmail and Outlook have spam filters, set a filter up for mails which contain keywords, in the title or body of the mail and set a rule to delete them automatically.

Then occasionally check the email deleted items to ensure nothing required is getting binned but spam is, and it will work for ever.

Good point Gryff, I had totally forgotten about doing it that way as a user to prevent these notifications.
