alternator or other electrical issue?
#1
Brand new battery in the car. Been running it in there for 2 weeks. Was at a clients house today and the car wouldn't start. Completely and utterly dead. Every light off. Jumped it and drove for 40 mins to another clients house. Was there 3 hours and afterwards it needed jumping again.

Got home another 20 minutes. Just started and stopped the engine 3 times and it was fine every time. Surely it should be dead again?

These are symptoms it DOESNT have... a funny noise emanating from the alternator, smell or noticeably dimmer or brighter lights.

It does have a decent belt which is definitely going round without slipping.

Anyone got any ideas?

ok I looked it up and gave it a go. I haven't a clue if it worked or not unless the car does it again...

Hi, I'd get the battery checked out. Although it's new it might be a Friday afternoon or a Monday morning one if you know what I mean!!
Should have a warranty on it any way.
Check the connections on the battery.
Let us know if you find out what is was.
