2003 1.6 16v petrol Berlingo Oil specifications?
#1
Hi, the handbook doesn't have any specifications for oil in it, so I went on Eurocarparts and put in my reg and the first result was C3 0w30 castrol edge oil so I got that, even though I'd already bought it I decided to check some other websites to see if it was cheaper. Halfords says that oil isn't compatible with my car but it meets all the specifications stated on Autodoc. However I'd like to find some official specifications to make sure I can use it. Thanks

If that were my car I would be running it on any 10w40 or 5w40. (Semi of fully synthetic it doesn't matter)

There's no fancy emission control on that engine.

0w30 is way over spec for that engine and contrary to popular belief the latest spec of oil isn't always the best oil for an older engine.

.I agree I just bought the first one it recommended and was in stock I'll definitely get a cheaper on next time but can I use it or will it damage the engine?

It won't damage the engine.

0w30 is a very thin oil, so an older engine may tend to burn a little, make sure to check the oil level regularly.

I think Halfords only keep current models in their database and if your car is an older one you get 'not compatible' rather than 'not in our database'.

I have a 2008 C4GP and the front indicator bulb went. On this model the bulb is clear and the glass amber; on 2013+ models it's the other way round but the bulb has the same part number whether it is clear or amber.

Halfords insisted that I can't put an amber bulb behind an amber glass! Really?

As jj9 says, when I had my 53 plate Berlingo I used any 10w40 oil around with no issues.
