Retro-fitting rear view camera
#1
I've just bought a 2019 XL Berlingo, after my trusty 2006 car 'died' with a turbo fault. I've gained reversing sensors now but not a reversing camera.
Has anyone retro -fitted a camera to a Berlingo and if so, can you recommend where to get this upgrade carried out or at least where I can source the hardware? Smile
As this car usually can be supplied with Manufacturer fitted reversing camera etc, I'm assuming that there are connections hidden behind the dashboard info display that are all camera-ready, so if anyone knows of a specialist fitting service, i'd be grateful to find out about that.

There are plenty of Chinese kits on Amazon, also a company called Dolphin parking systems do kits for specific cars like the Berlingos but to get them on the factory screen, would probably need coding and that can only be done by Citroen on your year of vehicle. No one else can do that now.

I fitted a Dolphin kit which replaces my rear 3rd brake light but had to use their monitor which goes over the mirror and works fine. Not possible to get it on the in car OEM display if you have one, after the 2015 models. Unless you pay Citroen that is and they are unlikely to do it for an aftermarket kit they didn't supply.

Sol,

What are these like to wire in?

I have a 2010 Partner HDi 1.6 16v and I do miss a reversing aid if i am honest and I have a tow bar to add to the mix.

I also don't have windows on the rear doors so I am hoping I can put the monitor in place of where the rear view mirror once would have been.

I have seen them on Amazon and when I see a poor review I steer clear but I need to skip them and think about any positives. What is the overall quality and build like etc?

Rgds,

J

Fitted one in Berlingo Multispace 2012, took me a hour (wiring all hide), camera fitted rear to the inside of the door, but also put one on the door just above the number plate on where the handle is, both places look good.

Rear view mirror type, are not bad for the camera, but slightly blue tinge for the mirror itself.

OP did you get the camera installed? I'm looking to do the same. Found the Dolphin brand ones but those are for the older models.

I fitted one to a 2020 Peugeot Rifter (same as a K9) with a tailgate . The camera was in the third brake light and although SOL said it cant be done it was viewed through the original screen on the dash. It is plug and play.

It was from Empirical in Glasgow and when I sold the rifter I took it out, it is now for sale.

Just bought one from them also for my Peugeot E Expert. Picture quality seems very good

The genuine Citroen reversing camera retrofit kit is available from Citroen Accessories (approx £200 IIRC), but like all kits that display on the LCD screen it needs coding. My dealer looked at details of the kit online and quoted me £600 to fit the kit and code it in. Obviously I declined the offer!

Do you mean this one?

https://citroenaccessories.co.uk/genuine...mm-harness

Which, from the description, needs a separate 3.5” screen

https://citroenaccessories.co.uk/3-5-scr...ing-camera

Which is another £142.

So £341 in total for the camera and the screen.
