Hi folks, the software update failed. Corrupt file.
Now it's stuck on screen showing update in progress. Screen doesn't switch off even with ignition off and car locked.
I'm in Spain and itsa weekend so not easy to find a garage.
I'm going to download the software again at the hotel tonight and try again but will the battery get drained if it's on all night?
Is there any way of re-setting the system as we don't have any Bluetooth or radio etc. And no reverse sensors.
Thanks.

Not sure if a BSI reset would work, but worth a try.
Front window down on drivers side, bonnet up.
All doors closed except bonnet. If it has a pin switch for an alarm, then tape down (duct tape) the switch or put something heavy enough on it to hold it down.
Wait a few mins until all clicking, buzzing or whirring stops. THEN Disconnect the battery front terminal (quick release) and keep it well away from the battery, wait 5 mins.
Put the terminal back on. Do NOT open any doors or shut the bonnet.
Lean in through open window, turn sidelights on ONLY, then key in ignition, turn to first position where all dash lights come on. Hold the LOCK button on the remote for 10 secs, may hear a beep. Ignition off.
Open the door now and get in. Start the car, then switch off. Close all windows, try central locking.

Thanks. That seems rather complicated! I need to think about it.
I can live without the touch screen if need be but what I'm concerned about is whether the constant display running down the battery.
Which has just given me an idea. I've never looked at the battery. Is it easy to.disconnect? If it is likely to drain the battery overnight can i just disconnect the battery?

Ah. Just read it again. It's a keyless ignition and there are no side lights as such.
What should I do instead.

Thanks.

Looks like the screen shuts down after a while so I'm not going to worry about it.
Thanks for the advice.
Much appreciated.

Keyless ignition, you just press the power button while not touching the brake or clutch, that puts the ignition on in keyless cars.

Damn. Tried the reset. It won't start at all.
Engine turns over but won't start.
F*ck it.
Can't get anyone to look at it until Thursday at the earliest.

Very weird. Is it cranking at normal speed even though it won't start? Just to rule out a weakened battery. If it does, it may be worth just switching off, lift the bonnet, wait until it goes quiet, giving it 5 mins and then disconnect the front battery terminal. Wait 10 minutes, connect it back up.
Give it a few minutes before trying to start it. See if it goes. The procedure should not have stopped it from starting. Do you have a spare key fob?

Thanks. I tried several times and it was turning over fine but not starting.
Just been back to the car 30 minutes later to collect something and tried again.
Bloody thing started... relief and bafflement ?
I'm going to leave it until I get back to the UK.
Thanks for your help.
