Offside Engine Mount Removal
#1
Does anyone have any tips for removing the offside engine mount. I’ve just broken a new strap wrench on it. I’ve tried a chain type oil filter wrench but there’s no room to swing it.

Offside engine mount?

Is that righthand or lefthand side?
(As seen from the drivers' seat, facing forward)

And which engine?

Thanks but already watched it a couple of times. Couldn’t get the rubber glove trick to work unfortunately.

I bet Citroën has a special tool for that part. Just a socket that fits over the durn thing and has 3 tabs to latch onto the gaps.

I'd try a chisel and hammer, really, if I could get to it. Or make a tool for the job.

Or give the base of the durn thing a squirt of two of WD-40

As for the glove trick, you need a Nitrile glove like he has, but try to only use a single layer. Nitrile on top of nitrile will just slide.

But he had the glove in the wind-up section, which cannot slip. The bit that slips is round the circumference of the bush. It looks to be an M8 fixing, so a couple of taps with a hammer and punch and it would have been off in seconds. It is not as if it matters if the old bush casing gets damaged.

Not much room to swing a hammer there as I found out when a half hour break in the rain allowed me to have another go.  Dropping the engine a little on the jack allowed a bit more room to swing the chain wrench and, with a bit of assistance from an 18inch breaker bar the thing is now off.  A bit of surface rust had built up underneath causing some extra friction. Couldn’t believe how tight it was for an 8mm bolt.
Thanks for all the suggestions though.

Fleabay for the 35mm impact socket that you will eventually be needing for the driveshaft nuts.
It also fits that pointlessly rubbery engine mount bolt.
