Front brake caliper carrier/bracket
#1
Hi guys, please tell me that somewhere there are aftermarket replacement front brake caliper carriers surely there must be? Going slightly mad being confronted by the prospect of over £100 to 200 per side from PSA ?

When I fitted the new coilovers on my 106 they used a 307 hub + drive flange.. the calipers / carriers and discs fitted straight on, and i know the brembo 4 pot calipers from a 406 fit straight on too... chances are there's a few other cars in the PSA range that are interchangeable.. what size discs are they on the B9?? I'd be willing to wager there's a 206/307 out there with the same size and suitable parts...

The B9 is based on the PF2 Platform, so 307 etc. The rear axle components like discs and suspension is different and probably unique to the B9 and C4 GP model - potentially 308 / 3008 is the same.

PF2 vehicle list:

2001-2008 Peugeot 307, essentially mix of 306/Xsara/ZX and PF2 platform
2004-2010 Citroën C4
2007-2013 Peugeot 308
2009-2016 Peugeot 3008
2009-2012 Citroën C4 Sedan (C-Quatre)
2010-2015 Peugeot RCZ
2010-2018 Citroën C4 II
2011-2018 Citroën DS4
2015-2018 DS 4

Well, the hunt was indeed futile. I've ended up opting to recondition the existing carriers that resembled something raised from the Titanic. Got a sketchy electrolysis rig setup to strip all that rusty clag off. Thank heavens for YouTube

That works, I've seen it used but remember it generates a lot of hydrogen gas so have it in an outside, ventilated area. No kidding btw. Very dangerous indoors.

Yeah, I had it in my shed with the door secured partially open to account for that. It's worked a treat btw

They're in again for a final dunk in fresh solution, so will post results later. Well pleased with the amount of crud that's come off. All achieved with an old PC power supply (12v line), a builders bucket and a remnant of sheet steel knocking about as a sacrificial anode

Used electrolysis a lot of times to clean up heavily corroded brake calipers / carriers, takes a bit of time but they look brand new when finished.  Cool

It's a revelation. There's so many times I really could have done with knowing about this method, especially with other items I've refurbished on my Berlingo
