M49 Diesel Fuel Tank - syphoning
#1
Hi everyone. I have an issue with my 2000 Multispace 1.9D fuel sender. My fuel gauge is showing empty and it is NOT the gauge itself as it has been checked.
There is no inspection access to the sender unit on the tank, which is a real pain.
I am therefore needing to drop the tank, which is three quarters full. I am assuming that I will have to drain the tank to do this and there is no work around.

1. Is it possible to syphon fuel out on this model through the filler ?
2. How easy is it to remove the tank and disconnect the fuel lines?

I hope that someone might have done this before.

Thanks for any help/ advice.

Never tried to syphon out of tank but would think its possibly/easier through the fuel lines at the filter. Disconnect the fuel line to the filter add your own bit of pipe. There should be a handpump on the fuel line from tank to help getting the fuel flowing.

If you have a car lift then its quite easy , mucky dirty job otherwise.

I have learned that it is not difficult to syphon diesel out through the filler. The neck into the actual tank has a butterfly on it but it is straightforward to insert a hose and this flips open to allow syphoning.
