1.6 Hdi sump
#1
The sump on my van has a couple of good sized dents in it, I'm thinking of replacing it next time I change the oil. Just wondering if it's a straightforward drop or being a Citroen you have to take the windscreen out first or something equally unlikely...  Rolleyes Tongue Confused

Also, does anyone know if all the 1.6 Hdi sumps are the same?

Thanks in advance.

If removing why not just bash out the dents and push out the drain plug at the same time .... ??

Why spend money for no gain ???

The sump is a straightforward removal, no isues there.

I wasn't sure if was possible to get at the dents or if it was baffled, certainly an option if possible. I've seen mention of the drain plug, what's the issue with them?

The sump isn't baffled and as far as I know they are all the same.

The drain plug is recessed inwards so when you drain the oil a quantity remains, not the end of the world but it's nice to get it out if you can.
If you push or pull the recess out you get close to half a pint of extra oil out when draining.

Take a look at how I pulled the recess out at the thread below.

Thanks for the info. I've got a 12v pump for extracting the oil so the sump plug shouldn't be an issue, although looking at that thread it sounds like it would be easy to push out from inside.

If your engine dipstick tube is similar to the 1.6 16v hdi, then the dipstick tube is like Hampton Court Maze, no oil sucky sucky worky, I'm afraid.
I've got a Ford tdci pan on mine, loads cheaper, and a Ford tdci dipstick, with the steel cable. The plastic Pug Citroen one is utter gash.
