Hi to all!
Can anyone recommend the most suitable version of Diagbox software for a 2016 Berlingo HDi 99 with both Adblue and Eolys systems? I have an engine warning light which the local garage suggested was due to an empty/low Eolys tank, but I'd like to know for sure and would like the software for any future diagnostics anyway. I have both 32 and 64 bit OS windows devices available, but would like to know which version is most suited to my vehicle, which I believe is on the cusp of many system changes??
VIN: ########
Many thanks in advance,
Chris.

Hi Chris, I've obscured your VIN as it's a public forum and although not much can be done with it, the less personal info you put out in the wild, the better ok?
Right so being on 2016 you are potentially on the fence between two versions. Here's what I would do.
Version 7.83 from ebay, install in windows 7, 32 bit and patch to 7.57 or 7.62 / 7.63 and then stop. Buy the eBay kit anyway as you need the adaptor / interface from Actia.
Try running a Global Scan, if it says "ECU not recognised" for the engine control system then you can't use that version. Otherwise, stick with this one.
If it says your ECU is not recognised, then you need v9.68 for yours and will only be able to do diagnostic codes, no coding or alterations.
Diagbox 7.57 (VM version for use in VMware Workstation Player on any device)

Diagbox 9.68 Virtual Machine version (aka Fantomel’s Mr Rorry totally free version). Tested &
stable.

These links were and should still be active and virus free but I do not host them myself so your responsibility is to check with your own scanner
(Windows 10 built in AV scanner is as good as any. Don't believe the hype from the likes of any small-company anti virus products. Who has more money, and unlimited skilled resources, than any other company, plus a need to retain happy customers... Microsoft that's who.)
You still need the Actia (Lexia) full-chip interface to use these softwares as I said, just hand the interface over in VMWare Player menu Devices>USB>select your Actia etc. and it will just work. If using the VM versions you are good to go, otherwise if you install it, then never ever have the internet enabled while installing it or using it. Instant broken software.
Use the VM versions believe me.
The password for the v9.68 version is "fantomel" without the quotes. You still need the interface, "Diagbox Lexia full chip"

Yes mate, and it's free & built-in hence my recommendation is to use it, and not bother with the ones you have to buy. Paying for additional anti virus software is pointless.

I understand that the laptop shouldn't be connected to the internet, whilst using diagbox with the interface connected, as it could potentially get blocked through firmware updating.
BUT...
Does it matter if the computer is used online when diagbox isn't open/in use? Or is it absolutely essential to use a dedicated-never- connected laptop for the diagnostic work? I will be using the above as kindly suggested by Zion in the VM workstation player, using the full chip Actia Lexia 3 unit from eBay.
Any advice here much appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Chris

When Diagbox is not open, you can use the internet on the laptop. Best thing about a VM is that it can easily be set not to have a network connection and then it's fine, the host machine can connect anytime without issues as long as the VM can't.
The issue isn't a firmware update thing, it's a copyright / piracy thing. If PSA / Stellantis detect a pirate copy trying to call the mothership, the pirated copy is disabled by their system remotely and will need fully removed (not easy) and fully reinstalled before it will work at all again.
Even a hacked copy is still their creation at heart and they know how to break it from a distance if it dares to try and connect with their systems.
Best to use a VM with no network connection or ensure the internet is unreachable on a dedicated laptop when the software is open. Not just no browser open, but no internet connection at all.

I've just tried to unpack the 9.68 7z file and it asks for a password.
Have I missed it somewhere?
Also, is diagbox run with Lexia connected and ignition on, or engine running?
Thank you

You run it with the ignition on, not engine running. It will tell you when to turn the ignition off, and on again.
On the password, where did you get the file? The one I posted? If it's the 9.68 version I put up then the password is "fantomel" without quotes.
A note to owners with vehicles made after July 2015, Diagbox 9.68 is a must, even for clearing codes. The previous versions of v7.83 cannot communicate with the BSI or ECU so it can't even clear codes although it can read them. So don't waste your time with the v7 versions if you have a facelift B9 or later made after 1/8/15.
