Beware of scammers on a "want to buy" or "want to sell" thread. Be diligent with checking someone, before meeting, or handing any personal info out, or money over. Do not send money to anyone you do not know by PayPal or bank transfer if you have never met or verified their details first.

Even then, be very careful indeed. A lot of scum out there. Meet somewhere busy with CCTV like a shopping mall first. Offer to return to complete the transaction another day. Take someone with you. Don't be hasty.

Get a selfie with the seller or buyer. If genuine, they won't mind, surely. Ask to see photo ID. It's not unreasonable. Everyone carries their driving licence, which has their picture and home address on it.

If they refuse, make an excuse and walk away.

Never take cash to a meeting without a friend, and in a well lit public place with CCTV.

Offer to do the handover in a bank branch in person during office hours if it's cash. They have the best CCTV available and it is always working.
