I preventively changed my clutch cable a few months ago as I didn't know the age of the original. I made the mistake of hanging the new one and filling with oil to help lubricate it. This seems to have had the unfortunate consequence of allowing the self adjusting mechanism to slip and introduce a lot of slack in the pedal travel. Fiddling with the cable adjuster makes it work again but only for a short period.
I've tried looking for a manually adjusted cable as all the shorter left hand drive cables are manual adjustment.
I did search on here regarding manual adjusters but couldn't find anything. I Finally found one on Autodoc last night so for £19 it's ordered. I'll report back when it arrives and is fitted.

Fitted the manual clutch cable today as the original/replacement (Pagid) cable had fully died - the adjuster had slipped even more.
The manual cable is easy to fit - I nipped up the end cable adjustment nuts drove round the block a few times to bed everything in then wound the main white coloured adjuster a few turns and nipped up it's locknut.
The clutch pedal is far easieri/lighter than the previous cable - pulling that one back and forth once removed you could feel something internally 'bumping'
Will see how long it lasts!

It's this one - I got it from Autodoc of Germany but they are now out of stock.

How long are Berlingo clutch cables known to last? When, a few years back, I mentioned to my local independent Citroen specialist that maybe I should preventitively change the one in my M49, he said he had never known one to fail. So I didn't change it and am still on the original after 23 years and 163k, though the pedal does sound a bit creaky sometimes.

Sorry! Should have updated sooner.
On further inspection it appears the cable is actually okay, it's the clutch itself/release bearing or the fork has failed. Will disassemble when I get minute.
