Hi all. I’ve a 2019 Citroen Berlingo enterprise. Over few weeks had the seatbelt warning on the dash. Presumed all the s**t I have under seat lol.
Anyway today it got worse and when I got to work noticed on the drivers seatbelt buckle the 2 wires are snapped. What is the purpose of these wires is it just a seatbelt warning . Will it keep making that noise .
When you are in a shunt the seat belt buckle retracts to pull you down into the seat , it wont do that with these wires cut . A safety issue which will be a MOT fail.
You should replace as soon as possible. It may be that the buckle has been activated and should have been replaced.

I've never had a berlingo one apart, but on pretty much every vehicle I've ever worked on, the pretensioner is on the seat belt reel. The wires to the buckle will most likely be for the warning light.
I'd say get a replacement buckle, new or second hand. You could try stripping that cable back and twisting the wires together to prove the point.
Ford Escort vans had a cartridge under the seat which fired in a shunt and retracted the buckle. I assumed it was the same type system.

So did BMW. I also would have assumed the SRS retractor cylinder was in the buckle mount. I've replaced BMW ones and they are always on the fixed part, not the reel.
I've never seen a vehicle use the reel unit for that function. The buckle retracting does lock the reel, but only because it pulls so fast on the belt via the buckle.
Being at the reel would make it very complex to manufacture. Not sure that's right. Will check on ServiceBox when I get a chance.
