I know there are many topics on this.
But because of that i find it hard to find out.
Is there some plug and play wireset without much hassle. To fit the electric from the towbar?
If i buy a used original one with wires hanging on.
can i "plug and play" ?
Its a b9 berlingo multispace i have 2008 (2009 model)
I really need a towbar but it is too expensive/complicated if there is alot of wiring going on.

You cannot just wire it up to the rear lights, without the possibility of damaging the BSI. There is meant to be a towbar ECU installed. It has a socket for this.

I've a '12 plate van and wired my own tow bar on with an aftermarket relay from the rear lights.
13 years later everything still works just fine.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

The issue is that with CANBUS cars, after say 2009 I think, the BSI detects when bulbs fail by monitoring the power lines going to them. So if you just wire trailer bulbs into the same wires, it changes the readings the BSI sees and it throws a wobbly (think Mr Blobby type wobblies).
This is also why LED replacement bulbs often don't work - they also draw less power than standard bulbs so the BSI thinks there's still a problem. Even canbus friendly LED bulbs may not be.
The idea behind a bypass relay is that instead of directly connecting trailer lights to the car's lighting wires, you're only connecting relay contacts which take a tiny amount of power compared to light bulbs. The relay then feeds the permanent 12v others mention to the lights. This might be low enough for the BSI not to notice, or it might not. You'll find both stories reported here. But as Zion says it is not worth the gamble because the BSI might just faint and keel over.
The only proper DIY method is to use what Zion calls a towbar ECU - instead of a relay, you wire in a black box containing a microprocessor which talks to the BSI and tells it to calm down in a Scouse accent. But they are expensive.
