reversing sensors beep when braking
#1
b9 tepee

when i got the tepee the reversing sensors worked fine

then they started to cheep when i touched the brakes or indicator

I assumed a poor earth so reearthed them to the chassis and all was well for 6 months

the cheep is now back and very annoying so i have disconnected them to stop it

The power comes from a scotch lock on the reverse wire to the rear of the near side cluster

Only thing that I can think is that this connection isn't good enough but since this thing is French I am wary of cutting the reverse light wire to get a good connection.

Am I wise to avoid cutting it or is it ok ?

thanks

Try taking your reversing light bulbs out and see if it still does it, I think it's more likely a poor earth for the lights causing the issue, rather than anything you've done.

A work around might be to put an LED bulb in the reversing lights to stop the current from the brake lights running back up through the reversing light circuit to find an earth.
Could be worse.... Could be a Caddy.

sounds like good advice, I do that and will probably add an additional earth to the lighting cluster if needed

found a bit of corrosion on the lighting cluster pin, i cleaned it up but still got a bit of resistance so soldered an earth wire on to the cluster

beep is gone

i am very happy

thanks
