2018 oil leak
#1
Hello all,

I have a 2018 berlingo 75bhp and have noticed a slight oil leak from what I think is the egr pipe (can’t see Any higher or deeper, but the oil seems to be coming from there and dripping down onto my driveshaft and spraying the oil pressure switch too.
There are no puddles being left and only noticed this when I serviced the van.

Is this a common leak from said egr pipe or is there a usual spot these leak from?
Thanks paul

Not common. The EGR only carries exhaust gases. Could be a leak of oily vapour from the EGR but it can't leak actual oil. There is no oil supply to the EGR circuit. Or you have a much bigger problem.

I did think it’s an odd place to come from it’s not loosing much oil I’ve done 3k since the service and went down two little notches on the dipstick.
I’m not sure what oil was in it before but it’s done 130k and it wasn’t leaking when I serviced it the oil I put in was 0w 30 recommend by opie oils, could this cause an issue?

I've done 8k since my last service, to hit 69k and the oil has never dropped even a millimetre on the dipstick, two notches is about half a litre?

0w30 is a bit watery. Should be 5w40 fully synth.

There wouldn't be a puddle if you have the undertray, it catches it all.

Yeah so must be leaking from somewhere then, it’s going in for a cambelt next Friday so will get them to look at it then,

It never came with a undertray and doesn’t puddle or leave drips at all, it goes straight on the drive shaft and gets flicked about.
I do have an undertray to go on after the leaks fixed ready for winter

May be the oil switch leaking and the driveshaft is throwing it about?
