Stop start issue

Hi all
I have a 2016 1.6 Hdi that has done 240,000 km
When the Stop start system operates, the engine does not restart when the brake is released & I press the accelerator.

I was wondering if anyone could give me a clue to remedy this issue.

have you checked the battery? maybe it's old/discharged?

It only restarts when you press the clutch normally, never the throttle and not just by releasing the brake.

(If the battery was shot, it wouldn't shut off at all in start stop mode)

Forgot to mention the van is the semi auto version

Hmmm ok...no idea then buddy. Do your brake lights work? (wondering if the brake switch has popped back in it's holder and isn't triggering or not resetting to off)

Next thing I'd want to check is the status of the brake switch etc, but that needs Diagbox.

A bit of an update
problem solved.
An earthing cable has to be moved approx 6 cm on the gearbox shell !
There is a 2017 technical bulletin describing this issue and fix.

Well done. But why did the previous owners not flag this up before you did? Surely everyone else had the same problem with the van. The gearbox cable must have caused this issue since it was built.

I've had the van from new.
Happy that the stop/start stopped working.
My mechanic changed the clutch recently, therefore needed reprogramming.
As a side effect,the reprogramming cleared the fault in the stop/ start system, but resulted in the van stalling When the stop/start operated. Moving the earth cable fixed the stalling issue.

Ok, that doesn't make total sense to me, and that's usually an odd thing but I guess you got it working.
