LWB variants
#1
Hi looking into making a leap into getting a berlingo for the versatility of 5-7 seats with possible use as a camper/panel van.

Hoping to to get a LWB variant for the extra length <snigger> but as far as I am aware of the options for that are the K9 or the L2 version of the van B9.

Just want to check if this is correct as I prefer the B9s ability to remove seats and possibility of dropping both driver and passenger seats to the same level as folded rear seats in order to extend the sleeping platform up to the dashboard. How ever would also like to keep to a car variant I order to freely make trips to the tip.

Just checking in case there is a L2 car variant of the B9 that I am not aware of.

As an aside is anyone aware of designs extending the sleeping platform over the folded passenger seat and empty middle space in the front of the K9? While it wouldn't be a decent sized double it could serve as the foot end of a tapered double bed.

The L2 B9 comes as a crew cab version and can be converted to use the normal Multispace rear seats

That’s brilliant news, do you happen to know what’s involved in that and what the case is with the front seats? Looking at constructing something similar to this but hopefully have a bit more space boot end.

Alternatively has any one see a conversion extending onto of the folded passenger seat on the K9?
Thinking we could have a full width bed starting just behind the mid-seats  and have it taper to just the passenger seat/gap between front seats and have our feet that end.

With the extra length you've got with the L2 B9, I think you'll have more than enough room to accommodate a bed, certainly if you maintain a twin front seat setup.

When it comes to boot jump options, the usual fayre out there for the L1 Multispace will work with a converted L2 crew cab with no issues, as it would essentially be standard, albeit about a foot longer. Most of the boot jumps engage with and click into the existing standard seat rail/mounting holes, and the tie down loop points further back in the rear load bed.

I've attached screenshots of the service manual guide for removing the crew cab seat unit assembly:

Once you remove the bonded base plate as shown, it uncovers the standard rear seat rails that the Multispace uses. All you need to be able to fit them are the side brackets that bolt on which secure the back rests

Bloody hell, that’s above and beyond! Thank you,

Some food for thought as it doesn’t look that bad a job apart from the faff with having to heat the glue to remove the floor. Will have a look and see what the chances are for getting hold of the catches for the back rest.

You’ve been a massive help already, but just in case you have the answer do you know if the front seats fold into the flat table like shape?
Bit excited at the possibility of having my cake and eating iit, as well as a bit of a project.

They fold down near flat. Flat enough for what you're aiming to do

You should be able to get the backrest brackets when you get your rear seats. There's two rear seat configurations: the budget standard ones come with a 1:2 split, with the single behind the driver's seat, and the mid/passenger side twin bench. The XTR spec ones are three individual rear seats, so more flexible in terms of arrangement. The crew cab seats are entirely different to the Multispace ones, so you'll have to flog those on
