You could do a lot worse than the Mannol range, eg, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304686808489 often on offer.

Filter? Don't overthink it, buy one that fits from a brand you recognise.

It is cheap, but it's also perfectly good. Loads of folk I know use it in an assortment of vag and bmw stuff and none of them have had an explodey fireball yet.

Cheap enough you can change it more often. Wink

There is a specific variant of 15/30 Low Saps made by Mannol for our PsA Group vehicles

MANNOL Energy Formula PSA 5W-30 7703

But it's pretty scarce in the usual UK places.

You need to bear in mind the pain that consumers went through with early Dv6 engines and take the lessons learned about oil issues.
I use Total quartz ineo.
Certainly not cheap but it's the recommended product by PSA.

You can get genuine (Mahl) filters for reasonable money on eBay if you look around
 1109ay is the part number.
Don't forget a new sump plug washer 20x10x1.5
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

Yeah, lots of turbo failures on the early dv6s due to carbon build up and coking back then.

Shtus well meaning link was for a C3 rated oil- which is high Sulphur ,Ash and Phosphurs ( Saps)

These are additives for the benefit of many engines but in some ,such as the Euro Diesel, they can block DPF's or even close off oilways, so a low rating, C1 should be used.

Back in the day you could just glug some Castrol GTX in and be done with it ....
It is on my to do list.

That's weird. 7908 is listed as a C2 spec on their own site, which is perfectly OK (and what is specified almost everywhere for the 1.6 hdi)

https://www.mannol.de/products/synthetic...mium-5w-30

I've emailed them to find out what they have to say.

(edit - oddly, the bulk packaging images state both C2 and C3, the images of the retail pack say c3. I CBA going out to the garage to read the label myself. Big Grin)

You're right
I've just looked deeper.Total Quartz is a C2  as well, but the ACEA  a have also recently discontinued the C1 spec which will add further confusion.
Definitely avoid the C3 though.

The Total Quartz 0w20 oil recommended for use in my K9 (1.5 BlueHDi) is rated as ACEA C5, but it also says 'Low Saps Particulate Filter' on the can, so I'm wondering what the C-number actually means?
